We are seeking an Adjunct Faculty member in Renewable Energy Engineering to deliver postgraduate teaching on the module Renewable Energy: Generation, Use and Storage.
The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, assessment, and academic support, ensuring delivery is aligned with UK higher education standards and DMU’s academic quality framework. This role is ideal for an academic or industry practitioner with strong expertise in renewable and sustainable energy systems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach and assess postgraduate students on the Renewable Energy: Generation, Use and Storage module.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and applied learning activities.
  • Provide academic guidance and constructive feedback to support student learning and achievement.
  • Ensure teaching and assessment align with university academic standards and quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and student-centred learning environment.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
  • PhD (or near completion) in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Sustainability, or a closely related discipline (Required).
  • All academic qualifications must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
  • UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) equivalency is mandatory for teaching allocation, in line with CAA and KHDA requirements.
Experience & Subject Expertise
  • Strong academic or industry experience in renewable and sustainable energy systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, hydro, and biomass systems.
  • Solid understanding of energy storage technologies, demand-side flexibility, and electrification of heat and transport (BEV, FCEV).
  • Familiarity with energy economics, techno-economic analysis, and Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE).
  • Working knowledge of energy markets, policy, regulation, and electricity system operation.
  • Good understanding of electrical machines (synchronous and induction generators/motors) used in renewable systems and electric vehicles.
  • Essential: Proven expertise in renewable energy system modelling using HOMER software, including grid-connected and off-grid system optimisation.

Teaching Commitment
  • Teaching Load: 3 hours per week
  • Duration: 6 weeks
  • Teaching Period: 9 February 2026 – 27 March 2026
  • Teaching Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM (as per approved timetable)
