Position Summary
The Office of Admissions at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) is seeking an Administrative Support Associate to join their team!Are you passionate about providing top-notch customer service and excel in managing documents and data? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? If so, we invite you to join our team at WSSU as the Primary Internal Customer Service Contact for the Office of Admissions!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service Excellence: Serve as one of the main points of contact for internal customer service within the Office of Admissions. Provide exceptional communication and presentation skills (both written and oral) to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
  • Document Management & Processing: Coordinate and process recruitment documents, contact cards, telephone inquiries, email requests, and other recruitment documents into the prospective student database. Download web applications and process new student credentials for admission. Perform CRM data imports and ensure data integrity across all systems.
  • Information/Records Administration: Demonstrate accuracy and effectiveness in working with computerized data systems, particularly Banner. Adhere to all FERPA rules and regulations and WSSU Data Standards.

  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate and troubleshoot the needs of the Admissions staff. Provide primary support for building skills across the data entry team and promote the University’s cultural values.
  • Information/Records Management: Maintain high standards of accuracy in data entry and adherence to data standards and regulations.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary function of the Office of Admissions is to achieve and maintain the optimum recruitment rates for the University. In conjunction with this function, the Office of Admissions develops programs that will market the University and provide access to qualified candidates. Also, it is the goal of the department to enroll students with a profile that equips them to meet the challenges of the University.

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

  • Data Management: Skills in importing/exporting, cleaning, and validating data within a CRM.
  • Admissions Knowledge: Familiarity with undergraduate, transfer, or special student application processes.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong MS Office, Excel skills; basic understanding of HTML, familiarity with SFTP or secure file transfer tools for uploading or retrieving data files
  • Administrative Experience: Experience in higher education administration or customer relationship management.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to manage high-volume data entry with precision, such as processing transcripts, test scores, or application documents.
