Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking applicants for a part-time Administrative Assistant in the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture (BILSA). This 12-month, 20-hour-per-week position provides advanced administrative support and coordination for college operations, events, and communications. The role serves as a key resource for faculty, staff, students, and external partners, overseeing office operations, supporting event planning and outreach, managing communications, and supervising student employees.

This position offers an hourly wage of $20.00.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership in the development, planning, coordination, and implementation of College of BILSA events in alignment with institutional goals and priorities.

  • Coordinates logistics and secures resources for alumni and recruitment events (e.g., Homecoming, BILSA Golf Outing, STEM Career Exploration Day, FFA CDEs, Construction Career Day).

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for the BILSA Alumni Board, Admissions, Recruitment, and other partners to facilitate meetings and events.

  • Develops, edits, and distributes newsletters, recruitment materials, and other communications in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Manages and maintains content for the BILSA webpages, TV displays, and social media platforms to ensure accurate and timely communication.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains electronic and physical records and systems related to College communications and events.

  • Provides general administrative support, including greeting visitors, answering phones, purchasing supplies, and ensuring smooth office operations.

  • Recruits, trains, and supervises student employees in the College office to support daily operations and special projects.

  • Assists with the planning and coordination of College of BILSA socials and events.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support the mission of the College.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and social media platforms, including Facebook.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and priorities, including events and communications.
