Administrative Assistant (WordPress Experience Preferred)

Position Overview

The Mackinaw Area Visitors Bureau is seeking a highly organized and motivated Administrative Assistant to support daily office operations while assisting with website updates and digital communication. This role requires strong administrative skills along with experience working in WordPress to help maintain and update the organization’s website.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced tourism and events environment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Provide daily administrative support to the Executive Director
  • Answer phones, respond to visitor inquiries, and provide tourism information
  • Manage office communications including email correspondence
  • Maintain office files, records, and databases
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, preparing documents, and organizing materials
  • Track and assist with event registrations and vendor communications
  • Help coordinate logistics for community events and promotions

Website & Digital Support

  • Update and maintain the organization’s website using WordPress
  • Add and edit website content including events, listings, and announcements
  • Upload images, update pages, and ensure content is current
  • Assist with basic website troubleshooting and formatting
  • Support digital marketing initiatives including website content updates

Event & Tourism Support

  • Assist with planning and coordination of community events
  • Communicate with vendors, sponsors, and event participants
  • Help maintain event materials and promotional information
  • Provide general support for tourism promotion initiatives
  • Attendance and participation during major event weekends is required

Qualifications

  • Experience with WordPress website management
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Professional customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in tourism, hospitality, or event planning
  • Experience with social media platforms and basic marketing support
  • Experience with graphic tools such as Canva or similar platforms

Work Environment

This is an in-office position located in Mackinaw City. The role involves regular interaction with visitors, local businesses, and community partners.

Because the Visitors Bureau organizes community events throughout the year, attendance during major event weekends is mandatory. Some evenings and weekends will be required.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
