The Opportunity:
The Academic & Student Affairs department at WSU Tri Cities welcomes applications for an Administrative Assistant to support our campus Learning Commons and Student Services. In this role you will provide high-level administrative, general office management, and program support. You will manage a wide range of sensitive and confidential personnel and administrative issues, using independent judgement and discretion to ensure the delivery of superior customer service.
Your duties will include (but are not limited to) serving as the department’s personnel/recruitment coordinator and Departmental HR Partner in Workday for faculty, staff, non-permanent and student hiring, on-boarding, and other compensation/personnel actions, and initiating actions to ensure work unit and office goals are met and have frequent contact with students, clients, the public, faculty, staff, and other WSU offices and units. You will also complete purchases and reconciliation for assigned units. Assignments and projects can be complex in nature, requiring substantive knowledge of a variety of regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and processes. As the Administrative Assistant you will be working at the front desk of the Learning Commons, providing superior customer service to students, staff, faculty, and community members.

This is an in-person/on-site role located on the WSU Tri Cities campus in Richland, WA.

Monthly Salary: $3,665.00 - $4,882.00 | Range 41 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with
WAC 357-28
.

In accordance with
RCW 49.58.110
, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
  • One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1 OR a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher.
  • Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills and a willingness to take initiative.
  • The ability to coordinate multiple programs and deadlines and solve problems for a wide range of complex tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to establish relationships and work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external constituents.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an environment requiring high attention to detail.
  • Experience working within a team and across organizational units.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and function positively in a fast paced professional environment.
