Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The department of Accountancy and Business Law teaches and prepares undergraduate and graduate students for careers in Accounting. In addition to classroom instruction, students are prepared for the work force through counseling and contact with major firms. This unit consists of a department chair, full time faculty, part time faculty, staff, teaching, research and graduate assistants, undergraduate student workers.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Administrative Associate provides administrative and technical support to the department of Accountancy and Business Law. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks including:
- Assisting the department with managing, coordinating, and administering department goals
- Securing travel arrangements and processing travel authorizations and reimbursements
- Purchasing, managing and storing departmental supplies
- Building courses and assisting the Chair with student enrollment
- Processing large mailings
- Keeping the Accountancy and Business Law office space organized and maintained
- Serving as the primary contact for event planning for department and MSA events
- Assisting search committees, department chair and candidates during departmental searches
- Maintaining departmental website, monitoring for changes, and suggesting required updates
- Managing the department operating budget across a variety of funding sources. This position is responsible for tracking expenditures, providing reports on spending and balances, and assisting the chair with spending decisions
- Supervising student workers as needed
- Collaborating with student organizations and department staff to plan, organize, and execute events and fulfill department-supported requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- Advanced computer skills, including Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with administrative coordination, including budgeting, purchasing, and managing departmental operations.
- Experience working in higher education, using university systems such as course‑building platforms, travel/expense systems, and website content management tools.
- Experience with event management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for supporting faculty, students, search committees, and external guests.
- Banner, Ushop, PeopleAdmin experience, or similar software
