Description
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is the Chief Law Enforcement Office in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Office of Administrative Hearings within OAG is looking for an Administrative Specialist Senior for our office. An Administrative Specialist Senior carries a special position of trust and is expected to conduct themself and their work in accordance with standards set forth in the Office of Attorney General policies and guidelines, and to operate within the applicable statutes and regulations. This position is based in Frankfort, KY and our office does offer hybrid telecommuting schedules.

The Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), a department within the Office of the Attorney General, is responsible for conducting impartial administrative hearings related to a variety of programs, services, and certifications provided through state government agencies and boards. The Office is composed of three Divisions focusing on various areas of administrative hearings.

OAH is looking for a self-motivated and highly organized Administrative Specialist to join our team to provide general administrative support to the entire office.

The Administrative Specialist Senior will be responsible for:
  • Providing paralegal and administrative support to assigned Staff Attorney Hearing Officers
  • Coordinating a complex docket to include case intake, file setup, tracking and scheduling
  • Processing and distributing filings to assigned Hearing Officers
  • Serving as a liaison between the parties and the Hearing Officer
  • Certifying records, as required.
  • Updating a database with case information

  • Experience working in a law office or court
  • Paralegal experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Ability to work in an office setting and within deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to needs of the Office.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.


EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.


Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
