Description
The Alcoholic Beverage Control Board develops and enforces reasonable administrative regulations relative to the sale and use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, nicotine and vapor products. The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control includes various divisions as follows: the Commissioner’s office, the Distilled Spirits and Malt Beverage divisions, an administrative services branch, a licensing division, an education branch, a legal division and an enforcement division.

We are looking for an Administrative Specialist Senior to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Specialist Senior, you will provide high-level professional administrative support to internal staff and leadership related to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Provides high-level professional administrative support to the internal staff and leadership related to the Alcoholic Beverage Control's business operations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Receives and processes professional license applications on a statewide basis.
  • Provides initial review and enters payment for license applications and renewals received.
  • Provides high-level review, evaluation, development and implementation of licensing programs and processes.
  • Enters and monitors data in the department database.
  • Prepares routine reports and in-depth data analysis for management.
  • Responds to inquiries from both department staff and the public regarding license applications and general processes.
  • Communicates license information to licensee’s reference status, payment information, and any application deficiencies.
  • Provides high-level professional administrative support as directed by management
  • Communicates general processes and procedures for completing an application to both staff and applicant.
  • Communicates license status information to licensees that is limited to: status, payment information, and any application deficiencies.
  • Processes appropriate payments for application fees, refunds, and other routine licensing processes into our statewide database.
  • Cross trains in all areas of licensing processes.
  • Completes any special project or assignment as directed by management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.


EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.


Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.


Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
