About the Role: Evening 1:30pm-10:30pm

The Admissions Specialist plays a critical role in facilitating the intake and admission process for patients seeking inpatient and residential treatment services within the healthcare and social assistance sector. This position ensures that all prospective patients are accurately assessed for substance use disorders and related healthcare needs, enabling appropriate placement and care planning. The specialist collaborates closely with clinical teams, patients, and families to gather comprehensive information, conduct substance use assessments, and provide clear communication regarding treatment options and admission procedures. By maintaining detailed admissions reporting and documentation, the Admissions Specialist supports compliance with regulatory standards and contributes to the overall quality of care. Ultimately, this role is essential in guiding patients through the initial stages of their treatment journey, ensuring a smooth transition into the care environment that best meets their needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in inpatient care or residential treatment settings, particularly related to substance use disorder services.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder assessment tools and intervention strategies.
  • Familiarity with healthcare documentation standards and admissions reporting requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in substance use disorder counseling or related credential.
  • Experience working within healthcare or social assistance organizations focused on behavioral health.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and admissions management software.
  • Training in trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate patient intake needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough substance use assessments to determine patient eligibility and appropriate level of care for inpatient and residential treatment programs.
  • Coordinate and manage the admissions process, including scheduling intake appointments, collecting necessary documentation, and verifying insurance coverage.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date admissions reporting and records in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and external referral sources to facilitate timely and effective patient admissions.
  • Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients and their families regarding treatment options, admission procedures, and program expectations.

Skills:

The required skills such as inpatient care knowledge and substance use disorder expertise are applied daily to accurately assess patient needs and determine appropriate treatment placement. Admissions reporting skills ensure that all patient data is meticulously documented and compliant with healthcare regulations, supporting both clinical and administrative functions.
