Adoption Choices of Texas Inc. is a newborn adoption agency serving expectant parents throughout the state of Texas and Adoptive Parents in most US states. Our main office is in Dallas County near DFW airport. We work remotely in the other main areas Houston/Austin/San Antonio/The Valley, etc. We work with all adoptive family backgrounds, including single women/men, LGBTQ families etc.

PRN-Hourly Adoption Specialist) QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE)

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services field required (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, etc.)
• Possess adequately insured means of transportation and a safe driving record.
• Willing to submit to a background check, drug, alcohol, and TB test
• willing to become a notary
• bilingual in Spanish preferred

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• This role entails case management skills and counseling skills working with pregnant clients choosing adoption plans.
• accurate, through work, dealing with legal forms, intake forms, in an environment of independent work without micro-management. Timely scanning of notes, intake, back to office (home office tools required, laptop, scanner, phone)
• Receive intake calls and emails and respond in a timely manner. Meeting with clients for intake in the field promptly.
• complete expectant parent intakes in person within Austin, San Antonio, Killeen, Waco area
• Carry out individual case management and counseling with expectant parents to help them prepare for adoption-related issues, i.e., grief, exploration of unresolved personal issues that may affect adoption decisions, options available other than adoption, life planning, parenting, paying their monthly bills once matched with an adoptive family etc. Refer clients to outside community resources
• Case Manage with the matched adoptive families via phone, email, zoom, etc. including arranging the first phone call and meeting in Austin or surrounding area and complete case assessments.
• Upload all documents and review all case files to ensure that all necessary documentation follows licensing standards.
• Maintain all communication with clients in the agency database.
• Provide support services to expectant parents, including maternity-related transportation and escort of local clients to health care appointments.
• Assistance in obtaining Medicaid or insurance for prenatal care.
• Attend weekly virtual staff meetings; report any needs or issues on potential and current caseload
• Prepare and oversee relinquishments and notarize legal documentation in the hospital after delivery.
• Build new/nurture existing relationships with hospital social workers & community partners.
• Obtain 20 clock hours of training per calendar year.
• Assure state and local regulations are met, and adoptions are conducted safely, ethically, and highly professionally. Work under the general direction of the Executive Director, performing both routine and complex duties; resolve conflicts; use discretion and independent thinking to address unique client needs and legal requirements.
• rotating on call birth mother hotline evenings and weekend one week at a time rotating with the other adoption specialists throughout Texas.
• Other duties as assigned.

STANDARD WORK HOURS & AVAILABILITY

Remote office hours are flexible schedule, with the exceptions on mandatory Thursday zoom staff meetings. This position will primarily work from home and in the field when meeting with clients and facilitating adoptions. The hours will vary for the Adoption Specialist and cannot be guaranteed. Due to the nature of this work, availability on weekends and holidays will be required as needed depending on your case load of expecting parents.
