POSITION TITLE: Adult and Family Program DirectorOverview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Adult and Family Program Director to lead and oversee comprehensive programs serving adults and families within the Cook County North Suburban area. This vital role involves developing innovative initiatives, managing staff, fostering strong community relationships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that promote independence, well-being, and community integration. The ideal candidate will bring energy, strategic vision, and a passion for empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs to thrive.

POSITIONS REPORTING TO ADULT AND FAMILY PROGRAM MANAGER: In Our Own Voice Presenters; Support Group Volunteers; Family to Family Teachers and Coordinator; Family Insight Teachers; Chai and Chat Volunteers; Interns

Job Description:

With the valuable formula of education, support and advocacy, NAMI CCNS strives to improve the quality of life of individuals living with mental illness and those that care for them. The NAMI CCNS Program Director is ultimately responsible for all CCNS programs. The Program Director is to manage and maintain all NAMI signature and local programming in coordination with NAMI National and NAMI Il. The Program Director is, as well, responsible for developing and implementing new programs as necessary to fit the needs of the 19 NAMI CCNS communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuous outreach to the 19 NAMI CCNS communities to spread awareness regarding NAMI CCNS overall, as well as an overview of programs (outreach may include public speaking engagements throughout)
  • Conscientiously keep an awareness as to the ever-changing mental health support needs of the communities and adjust programs accordingly
  • Coordinate all yearly room reserves and renewals for NAMI CCNS classes and support groups
  • Monthly and quarterly participation on related community committees for outreach purposes (i.e., Together for Mental Health Alliance, Lutheran General Community Partnerships etc.)
  • Coordinate volunteer onboarding and training, at the local affiliate level, as well as the NAMI IL official training.
  • Provide any program related information, results and evaluations, when possible, to grant writer
  • Ultimately responsible for the scheduling and delivery of the wide variety of NAMI weekly support groups, classes and community programs
  • Creating communication materials such as flyers and outreach materials
  • Work closely with the Youth and Young Adult Program Manager to input data into appropriate database and analyze and evaluate data after every program
  • Collaborate with the individual managing social media to regularly publicize & promote all programs
  • Coordinate with other NAMI affiliates when possible or necessary to best serve our communities
  • Participate in the annual CCNS budget analysis
  • Work closely with the Youth and Young Adult Program Manager to create quarterly and yearly program goals
  • Keep abreast of the many resources for general NAMI CCNS phone calls
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Attend Board of Director meetings upon request
  • Attend youth and young adult programs as needed
  • Assist with Resource line as needed.
  • Provide hope and inspiration through the NAMI CCNS programs to all in need

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent
  • Preferably prior experience working in education or NPOs
  • Data collection & analysis experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative regarding outreach
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships throughout the various CCNS communities as well as, other NAMI affiliates
  • Disciplined and organized with time management
  • Previous knowledge and/or related work regarding mental illness

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
