Adult Services Librarian (Part-time)

Adult Services Librarian
Under the supervision of the Director, the Adult Services Librarian is primarily responsible for assisting in planning and promoting programs and staffing the reference desk. The Adult Services Librarian also represents the library at appropriate library cooperative meetings, participates as a liaison to suitable community groups and performs administrative duties as assigned by the Director

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the curation and maintenance of the adult collections, including weeding, and cataloging to ensure accessibility and relevance.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and outreach activities that meet community interests and promote lifelong learning.
  • Assist patrons with research inquiries, digital resources, databases, and information management to enhance their library experience.
  • Utilize social media platforms to promote library programs, resources, and community engagement efforts effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries professionally and fostering an inclusive environment for all community members.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school or currently enrolled in MLIS program
  • Capability to handle confidential information in an appropriate and secure manner
  • Experience in teaching or conducting workshops tailored for adult learners
  • Help patrons place holds for materials through the Suburban Library Cooperative or the Statewide MeLCat systems
  • Ability to develop engaging social media content to promote library programs and resources.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
