The Advanced Practice Provider Psychiatry Care provides specialized care to patients with mental health conditions in collaboration with a psychiatrist(s). The APP assesses patients, interprets diagnostic test/results, and develops and implements treatment plans to address the patient's unique needs in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise and the ability to work with patients who may have complex mental health needs. Psychiatry Care includes both Inpatient and Outpatient APPs working in Psychiatry/Behavioral Health Medicine.
Essential Job Function:- Performs physical assessments of the patient, reviews their medical history, and interprets diagnostic tests/results in order to provide effective treatment for the patient.
- Conducts preventive health screenings based on the patients age, history, and unique needs to provide proactive health care.
- Educates patients and their family about psychiatric medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up.
- Maintains record of all patient care in order to ensure accurate patient history.
- Performs psychiatric medical procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and clinical roles.
- Identifies ways to improve psychiatric patient care by assessing, problem-solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:- Required: Masters Degree Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or PA-C with board certification.
Experience:- Required: 1 years
- Preferred: 3 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing:- Required: Valid NC RN, NCBON NP, PMHNP, board certification.
