Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Duties

  • As an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) - you will: Practice to full extend of their education - training - and certification
  • Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position
  • The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position
  • Practice in Primary Care Service at the Maui CBOC - Lana'i and Moloka'i VA Clinics to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veteran Affairs (VA) mission
  • The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management
  • Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis in health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice
  • Develop and implement an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management
  • Demonstrate leadership and works collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members
  • Order and interpret labs - tests - and diagnostic studies
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
  • Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services
  • Provide education to patients and their families
  • Provide coverage for Maui PCPs or other VAPIHCS PCPs as needed
  • Assist with unscheduled walk-ins
  • Coverage for Employee and Occupational Health tasks for all duties including but not limited to pre-employment physicals - evaluation of acute injuries - COVID testing - tracking - vaccine programs - etc
  • Assess and adjust the plan if care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes
