Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Orthopaedic Trauma - Full Time


The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to care for Orthopaedic Trauma patients. Working at the Shock Trauma Center, you become a vital part of a trauma team which cares for patients from admission through discharge.


The NP/PA performs examination, evaluation, assessment and interpretation of clinical data to provide care to the patients with orthopaedic injuries. Professional practice is in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team. Our Department of Orthopaedics serves as a referral center for patients in Maryland and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities:

Interview patients for health history and perform physical examination

Order and evaluate appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests

Document H & P, progress notes, and treatment plans

Act as liaison between patients and physicians to coordinate recommended patient care as well as pre- and post-operative care.

Caring for patients in both the clinic and hospital setting.

Participate in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement meetings


Work Experience

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license for the State of Maryland
