The Orange County Health Department has an opening for an Advanced Practice Provider I.
An employee of this class is primarily responsible for providing ambulatory primary care services as offered through health department programs, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness in all age groups, preventative and well childcare, family planning, reproductive and sexual health care, prenatal care, minor surgical procedures, and occasional medical emergencies in collaboration with supervising physician.
Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Advanced Practice Provider II with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding client/family needs and requests. Supervision is not the responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Family Nurse Practitioner Program, AND
Possession of Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant national certification, AND
Current NC licensure or eligible for licensure/approval to practice as issued by the North Carolina Medical Board or the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Medical Board,
AND
If a Nurse Practitioner, must possess valid, current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina, AND
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
One (1) year of work experience as an Advanced Practice Provider preferred
Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
May be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the Public Health Nursing Director.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of an SBI background check and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
In accordance with Section 28 of the Orange County Code of Ordinances, and/or relevant State and Federal statutes, candidates for employment
may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check based on the job responsibilities of the position. A fingerprinting check is conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and a criminal history background check is conducted by an authorized Federal or State regulatory agency to determine eligibility for appointment. Employment is contingent upon successful clearance through these checks, which are mandated for certain roles depending on the nature of the job and applicable laws.
Further, all offers of employment are contingent upon the satisfactory verification of your eligibility for employment, successful completion of the required pre-employment testing and/or screening, including drug testing when required and the submission and approval of all new hire documentation completion of your new hire paperwork.
