The Advisor, Software Developer – IIB provides leadership and initiative in a team environment, applying systems thinking principles to enable independent design, coding, testing, and deployment of software. This role supports the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), develops prototypes and solutions using diverse technologies, and mentors junior developers while resolving complex technical issues.
- Encode, test, debug, and document complex software and programs.
- Review, analyze, troubleshoot, and modify core and customized software applications.
- Respond to escalated customer inquiries and resolve complex technical/operational issues.
- Analyze root causes and implement corrective actions for defects and system failures.
- Follow documented SDLC standards and contribute to process improvements.
- Provide consultation on complex projects and serve as a top-level contributor or specialist.
- Serve as point of contact for high-level technical issues and collaborate with senior leadership for resolution.
- Design, develop, test, and support applications using:
- IBM Integration Bus (IIB), MQ, Message Broker
- ESQL, Java, EDI, Oracle Database
- SOAP/REST Web Services, DataPower, API Connect
- XML, SOA, ESB, and workflow technologies
- Develop technical and conceptual specifications and prototypes to support solution design.
- Configure and integrate interfaces with other application systems; develop data-related files.
- Analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely root cause analysis and resolution.
- Communicate with end-users and customers to gather and clarify business requirements.
- Develop test plans and support documentation to ensure thorough testing.
- Mentor team members and conduct peer reviews of technical deliverables.
- Develop basic queries for production support troubleshooting.
- Generate reports using queries and PL/SQL; analyze data for insights and issue resolution.
- Provide after-hours or on-call support, including weekends and evenings as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant software development experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of:
- Java (1.4 and above), JSP, XML
- Web technologies: HTML, JavaScript
- Oracle Databases (Oracle 9 and higher), SQL, PL/SQL
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation and business publications.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to diverse customer inquiries.
- Strong problem-solving skills in environments with limited standardization.
- Willingness to learn and adopt professional and industry standards.
- Customer service driven and a collaborative team player.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
