The Advisor to the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies plays a pivotal role in supporting Qatar University’s senior leadership by providing expert scientific and strategic counsel on research and development directions—particularly within STEM disciplines.
This position is central to advancing the quality, visibility, and impact of scientific research across the University, ensuring alignment with national priorities and Qatar University’s strategic objectives.
The Advisor contributes to shaping research policy, identifying emerging areas of excellence and national importance, and evaluating major research programs and initiatives. Through evidence-based analysis and forward-looking recommendations, the Advisor enhances the University’s research ecosystem and supports decision-making at the executive level.
Key functions include preparing analytical and advisory reports grounded in research data and performance indicators, promoting best practices in research management, and fostering the professional development of faculty and researchers.
Success in this position requires strategic insight, extensive interdisciplinary research expertise, and the ability to influence institutional priorities to sustain and strengthen Qatar University’s leadership in research and innovation.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic and research background in Medicine, Engineering, or Science.
Provide expert advice on research policies and strategies to enhance scientific excellence across colleges and research centers.
Review, assess, and advise on major research initiatives to ensure alignment with the University’s strategic vision and objectives.
Support the development of international research partnerships and the pursuit of competitive funding opportunities.
Analyze global research and innovation trends to identify emerging disciplines and areas of national significance.
Contribute to developing a long-term roadmap for research integration between Qatar University and governmental, industrial, or international partners.
Promote research capacity building by recommending high-level training programs, mentorship initiatives, and professional development opportunities for faculty and researchers.
Ph.D. in Engineering, Medicine, or Natural Sciences from a reputable and internationally recognized university.
Minimum of 10 years of academic and research experience, with a distinguished record of scholarly publications and supervision of graduate research projects.
A highly motivated and innovative professional with a proven record of leadership and effective management within higher education or research institutions.
Demonstrated experience in developing research strategies, policies, or managing large-scale national or institutional research programs.
Strong familiarity with research analytics and bibliometric platforms such as Scopus, SciVal, or equivalent systems.
Outstanding analytical, strategic thinking, and scientific communication skills.
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic is required.
