Position(s) are located within ATO, Mission Support Services (AJV), Aeronautical Information Services (AJV-A), Instrument Flight Procedures Group (AJV-A4). The Instrument Flight Procedures Group implements and manages the FAA Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs) program in support of the National Airspace System (NAS). AJV-A4 plans, develops, provides quality control, coordinates, and processes IFPs for publication. IFPs are used for safe navigation throughout the NAS.

FG-11
Typical duties consist of the following: Uses automation, charts, maps, and reports to populate databases, create digital files, and to evaluate IFPs for submittal to flight inspection and chart publishers for use by users within the aviation community; Develops, maintains, and revises IFPs; Identifies appropriate data sources from a wide range of available technical material sufficient to develop, maintain, and revise Instrument Flight Procedures; Ensures appropriate application of Federal Aviation Regulations, specifications, standards, and criteria; Identifies data discrepancies and notifies manager of unresolved problems and work issues; Assists in the development of Notices to Air Missions; Establishes and maintains effective communications with stakeholders involved in IFP processes; Conducts analytical studies and projects that involve key FAA programs and organizations; Uses automated applications in the development and evaluation of IFPs; Performs other related duties as assigned.
FG-12
Typical duties consist of the following: Uses automation, charts, maps, and reports to populate databases, create digital files, and to evaluate IFPs for submittal to flight inspection and chart publishers for use by users within the aviation community; Develops, maintains, and revises IFPs; Performs technical evaluation/application of criteria and expert knowledge of aeronautical information; Ensures appropriate application of Federal Aviation Regulations, specifications, standards, and criteria; Identifies data discrepancies and notifies manager of unresolved problems and work issues; Develops Notices to Air Missions; Establishes and maintains effective communications with stakeholders involved in IFP processes; Identifies appropriate data sources from a wide range of available technical material; Researches, analyzes, and recommends alternative solutions to complex problems; Conducts analytical studies and projects that involve key FAA programs and organizations; Provides briefings and presentations to individuals from FAA, other government agencies, as well as private industries; Uses automated applications in the development and evaluation of IFPs; Performs other related duties as assigned.
FG-13
Uses automation, charts, maps, and reports to populate databases, create digital files, and to evaluate IFPs for submittal to flight inspection and chart publishers for use by users within the aviation community; Evaluates work in-progress and at the conclusion of critical functions and production cycles; Provides technical direction, mentoring and on-the-job-training to staff; Researches, organizes, and writes materials often involved with complex issues; Analyzes/evaluates data to determine solutions for current problems and future approaches to long-range planning; Communicates with internal and external aviation stakeholders to gather and exchange information, explain regulations, provide feedback or status of assigned programs, or discuss a customer's concern; Performs technical evaluation/application of criteria and expert knowledge of aeronautical information; Identifies appropriate data sources from a wide range of available technical material; Researches, analyzes, and recommends alternative solutions to complex problems; Conducts analytical studies and projects that involve key FAA programs and organizations; Provides briefings and presentations to internal and external aviation stakeholders, including other government agencies and private industries; Applies policies/guidelines as related to Aeronautical Information; Uses automated applications in the development, evaluation, and maintenance of IFPs; Performs other related duties as assigned.To qualify for this position at the FG/GS-11 level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG/GS-9 level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized Experienceincludes: Experience working with Terminal Area Route Generations and Traffic Simulations (TARGETS) to apply basic instrument flight procedure principles for creating, maintaining, and revising terminal/en-route instrument flight procedures.

To qualify for this position at the FG/GS-12 level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG/GS-11 level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized Experience includes: Experience as a technical specialist in the full range of complex technical aeronautical instrument flight procedures data. Experience analyzing operational aeronautical/navigational practices, techniques and methods. Experience as a technical specialist for one or more of the following program of Terminal Area Route Generations and Traffic Simulations (TARGETS) to instrument flight procedure principles for creating, maintaining, and revising terminal/en-route instrument flight procedures.
To qualify for this position at the FG/GS-13 level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the FG/GS-12 level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized Experience includes: Experience as a subject-matter expert providing high-level technical aeronautical and operational advice to other specialist related to instrument flight procedures principles. Ensures quality control of complex aeronautical information procedures by providing subject-matter guidance to other specialist related to creating, maintaining, and revising instrument flight procedures products and publications. Experience in recommending changes in criteria, policies, or procedures as it relates to instrument flight procedures products or publications.
