Overview:
Manages a team of centralized Financial Advisors that provides an advice-based approach to financial solutions for smaller, less complex, and/or out of footprint accounts; supports broader onboarding needs of Financial Advisors within Affluent, including trainees.

Provide leadership, guidance and training to assigned sales team. Provide support to training and advisor development, creating a motivating environment, recognizing the success of employees and holding critical conversations to ensure strong adoption of sales practices and planning principles. Establish clear expectations, provide ongoing sales and product learning opportunities, and hold assigned team members accountable for their behaviors and results. Responsible for driving customer success and business growth for the team managed to meet operational objectives and ensure the department and team achieves its annual goals.

Participate in communicating and executing sales initiatives, event planning, and short and long-range planning for assigned team.

Partner with higher management to ensure effective execution of customer segmentation goals and other ongoing initiatives. Partner closely with Retail regional and branch management to ensure effective execution of the branch-based model.

Support onboarding of newly hired Financial Advisors and trainees on the Centralized team.

Ensure adherence to financial planning, suitability and client service standards.

Communicate and enforce operational and procedural changes to ensure compliance with Bank and division policy, investor regulations and pertinent laws and regulations. Monitor activities of assigned staff to ensure adherence to pertinent organizational and departmental policy and procedures and external regulations to minimize risk to the Bank.

Participate in and facilitate process innovation and special projects as assigned by management.

Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.
The position works under minimal supervision and uses independent judgment and discretion in the day-to-day supervision of the assigned unit.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a sales environment, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years higher education and/or work experience inclusive of a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a sales environment
Minimum of 2 years' managerial, supervisory, and/or work leadership experience
FINRA Series 7, 63, 24, and 65 Licenses
New York State Life/Accident and Health Insurance license
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong presentation skills
Master’s degree
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a call center environment
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a FINRA-regulated environment
Advanced industry certification, such as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $89,600.00 - $149,300.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
