After Care Teacher - SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY!

The After-Care Teacher is responsible for supervising and engaging children after regular school hours. This role provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that supports children’s growth and independence through age-appropriate activities, outdoor play, and enrichment opportunities. The After-Care Teacher ensures smooth transitions at the end of the school day and works closely with parents during pick-up.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Program Supervision

a. Supervise children during after-care hours with patience and attentiveness.

b. Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities (art, games, reading, outdoor play).

c. Maintain structure, safety, and positive discipline at all times.

d. Provide a calm and supportive atmosphere for children finishing their day.



2. Dismissal & Parent Communication

a. Ensure a smooth and orderly pick-up process.

b. Verify pick-up authorizations and maintain accurate records.

c. Communicate with parents as needed during dismissal in a positive and professional manner.



3. Environment & Operations

a. Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting after-care environment.

b. Report supply needs, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to administration.

c. Support the school’s overall mission and uphold Montessori philosophy.



4. Safety & Well-Being

a. Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios.

b. Supervise children both indoors and outdoors, ensuring their physical and emotional safety.

c. Be capable of communicating with emergency personnel and following emergency procedures.

d. Obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.



5. Other Duties

a. Assist with light classroom or school closing tasks at the end of the day.

b. Perform related duties as requested by the Administrative Team.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
1. Follow personnel policies of the school.

2. Maintain a neat and professional appearance.

3. Arrive on time, rested, and ready to meet the demands of the day.

4. Participate in required staff meetings and trainings.

5. Be flexible, adaptable, and able to transition between classrooms quickly.

6. Sit on the floor, bend, stoop, and move easily to engage with children.

7. Move classroom furniture/materials/equipment as needed.

8. Remain alert, attentive, and responsive to children’s needs.

9. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.

10. Lift up to 40 lbs. as required.
