After School Music Teacher

Responsibilities:

• Must be available to work Wednesday from 1:15-4:00pm (Closed on school holidays and during the winter and summer break while school is not in session)
• Teach Music and Singing in a group setting for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students. Activities will include fun beginner-level rhythm, movement, and singing games. Experience with beginner-level guitar (preferred) and piano (preferred) is a plus.
• Classroom management and create a positive, inclusive learning environment for students
• Plan and deliver engaging music lessons aligned with program goals
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to discuss student progress
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and behavior
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional materials
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom/workspace
• conflict resolution/peacemaking

Experience:

• Experience working with children in a tutoring, daycare, or physical education setting
• Experience teaching music (vocal, guitar and piano, ) to children
• Knowledge of basic music theory and beginner-level techniques for guitar and piano
• Knowledge of child welfare and development principles
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dedicated work ethic; proactive, responsible, and reliable
• Well-organized and committed
• Ability to be adaptable and successfully multi-task
• Effective in developing confidence and motivation in children
