After School Program Fitness Instructor

Job Summary
Join our dynamic after school program team as a Fitness Instructor dedicated to promoting healthy, active lifestyles among children and youth. In this paid role, you will lead engaging fitness activities that foster physical development, teamwork, and self-confidence. Your enthusiasm and expertise will inspire young participants, ages 6 through 12, to embrace movement, develop new skills, and enjoy a positive after-school experience. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for fitness, education, and working with children in a vibrant community setting. On the job training to be a coach for activities like strength training, parkour, and basic martial art skills is included, so prior coaching experience, although preferred, isn't necessary - we will train the right person!

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays from 2:30-7pm, and extra hours available on Thursdays and/or Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned, age-appropriate fitness activities that promote physical health, coordination, and fun.
  • Manage group dynamics effectively through strong, confident leadership to ensure a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Supervise children during activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Maintain clear communication with management and fellow staff members regarding program activities and children's progress.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to foster positive interactions and respect among participants.
  • Prepare activity materials and set up equipment needed for each session, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met.

Skills

  • Knowledge of first aid procedures to respond promptly to minor injuries or emergencies is preferred, but can also be taught on the job.
  • Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or early childhood education is valued
  • Background in sports coaching, babysitting, theater arts, or childcare enhances engagement techniques and is also valued.
  • Ability to motivate children through energetic instruction while fostering a supportive atmosphere.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, and parents. This role is ideal for energetic individuals passionate about promoting healthy lifestyles among youth while making a meaningful impact in their community!

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
