Job Summary
The Aftercare Aide supports the Aftercare Program Director in providing a safe, caring, and structured environment for students after school hours. This role assists with supervision, activities, homework time, and daily routines while fostering a positive atmosphere consistent with the mission of Immaculate Conception Catholic School.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise students in grades Pre‑K through 8th during after‑school program hours.
  • Lead or assist with age‑appropriate activities such as games, crafts, indoor/outdoor play, and enrichment time.
  • Engage with students in a positive, supportive manner, encouraging respect, cooperation, and inclusion.
  • Assist with homework or quiet study time when applicable.
  • Help set up and clean up activity areas, snacks, and program materials.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment by following established school and program policies.
  • Support consistent behavior expectations and communicate concerns to the Program Director.
  • Monitor student transitions, including attendance, parent pick‑up, and dismissal procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to minor conflicts or incidents and report injuries or concerns to leadership.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating kindness, patience, responsibility, and professionalism.
  • Uphold the values and mission of Immaculate Conception Catholic School and the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children preferred (school programs, camp, childcare, babysitting, tutoring, or youth ministry).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and enthusiasm for supporting students in a nurturing environment.
  • Ability to supervise multiple children safely and remain calm in a busy setting.
  • Minimum age requirement based on school and Archdiocesan guidelines (commonly 16+).
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Must complete and maintain compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program, including Protecting God’s Children training and required background screening.
