Responsibilities

• Plan and implement diverse afterschool activities including tutoring, arts, sports, theater, and character-building programs that cater to different age groups and interests.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to ensure a respectful and inclusive environment.
• Supervise children and teens during activities, ensuring their safety at all times with attention to child development best practices.
• Provide basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any health or safety concerns.
• Support children with special needs by adapting activities and applying principles of special education to foster inclusive participation.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community partners to support each child's individual growth and address behavioral or emotional challenges.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, activity logs, and incident reports to ensure smooth program operations.

Requirements

• Prior experience working with children or in childcare settings such as daycare, camp counseling, tutoring, or babysitting is preferred.
• Knowledge of classroom management strategies and childhood development principles is essential.
• Certification in first aid or CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification upon hire is required.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage children positively and work effectively with diverse populations.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a lively environment while maintaining professionalism and patience.
• Experience with special education or working with children with disabilities is a plus.
• Passion for youth development, sports coaching, theater arts, or Christian counseling is beneficial for creating enriching program experiences.
