Afterschool Teacher

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Afterschool Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience working with children in a classroom, childcare, camp, or afterschool program setting.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Completion of required state trainings and background checks.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
• Creative and flexible in planning activities that support academic and social development.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of child development and positive behavior guidance strategies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety of children during afterschool hours.
• Implement daily activities such as homework help, enrichment projects, games, and crafts.
• Promote positive interactions and model respectful behavior.
• Communicate with parents and staff regarding student progress, concerns, or incidents.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom space.
• Follow all licensing regulations, program policies, and emergency procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and actively engage with children indoors and outdoors.
• Stand, walk, or sit on the floor for extended periods.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
