AG In Shop Mechanic

Job Overview

Laird Manufacturing is seeking a skilled AG In-Shop Mechanic to diagnose, repair, maintain, and fabricate agricultural equipment in a shop environment. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and performance through quality repairs and preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in agricultural machinery
  • Perform repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance to restore proper equipment function
  • Replace worn or damaged components and coordinate materials to minimize downtime
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and fittings
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems such as wiring, sensors, switches, and control modules
  • Perform welding and fabrication work to repair or modify metal components
  • Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality, safety, and manufacturer standards are met
  • Accurately document service work, parts usage, and repair records
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area with properly secured tools
  • Follow all company safety policies and Cal/OSHA regulations, including proper PPE use
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred
  • Experience repairing agricultural, diesel, or heavy equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and move parts weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces as needed
  • Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibration, welding heat, and sparks
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery

Schedule, Pay & Compliance

  • Full-time, hourly position
  • Overtime paid in accordance with California wage and hour laws
  • California-compliant meal and rest periods
  • Flexible hours with occasional overtime during peak seasons
