The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for supporting the General Manager in overseeing overall plant operations, production planning, quality, cost control, and team management in a printing and packaging manufacturing setup. The role ensures smooth day-to-day operations, timely order execution, compliance with quality standards, and continuous improvement in productivity and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Management
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring printing and packaging operations
- Ensure production schedules are met as per customer delivery timelines
- Optimize machine utilization (offset, flexo, gravure, digital, finishing, etc.)
- Monitor wastage, downtime, and productivity KPIs
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to quality standards (ISO, BRC, FSC, GMP, etc., if applicable)
- Address quality issues, customer complaints, and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental regulations
Cost Control & Process Improvement
- Control production costs, material consumption, and overheads
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S)
- Support budgeting and cost-reduction strategies
Team Management & Coordination
- Supervise departmental heads, supervisors, and shift teams
- Support recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of staff
- Foster a disciplined, safe, and productive work environment
Customer & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with sales, planning, and customer service teams for order execution
- Support customer audits, visits, and technical discussions
- Assist in vendor development and supplier performance monitoring
Strategic Support
- Assist GM in capacity planning, expansion projects, and new technology implementation
- Prepare MIS reports on production, quality, costs, and efficiency
- Act as second-in-command during GM’s absence
Desired Candidate ProfileEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Printing Technology / Packaging Technology / Mechanical / Production Engineering
- MBA or PG Diploma in Operations Management preferred
Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in the printing and packaging industry
- At least 3–5 years in a senior managerial or leadership role
