The Agriculture Worker is responsible for performing various tasks to support the cultivation, harvesting, and maintenance of crops or livestock. This role involves hands-on work in fields, greenhouses, or farms to ensure efficient agricultural operations, compliance with safety regulations, and the overall health and productivity of crops and animals.
Crop Planting and Harvesting:
- Dig and plant seeds or transplant seedlings manually.
- Harvest fruits, vegetables, and crops by hand, ensuring proper handling to maintain quality.
- Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.
- Monitor crop growth to identify diseases or contaminants and ensure healthy development.
Irrigation and Maintenance:
- Install and adjust irrigation systems to provide even watering or meet specific crop needs.
- Clear and maintain irrigation ditches for optimal water flow.
- Water plants and grass as required, applying fertilizers and weed control solutions as necessary.
Specialty Product Collection:
- Harvest specialty products, such as royal jelly, wax, pollen, and honey, from bee colonies.
- Assemble, position, and secure beehives, trellises, and fences using hand tools.
Landscaping and Groundskeeping:
- Mow lawns by hand or using a riding lawnmower.
- Trim shrubs, pull weeds, and rake or mulch the grounds as needed.
- Cut down hazardous tree limbs and prune plants to promote healthy growth.
- Sweep walkways and remove debris to maintain cleanliness and safety.
- Assist with landscape installations, such as laying turf, planting trees, shrubs, and installing irrigation systems.
Pest and Weed Control:
- Apply pesticides to eliminate pests, including mosquitoes, wasps, and ticks, following safety guidelines.
- Use fertilizers and weed killers to enhance crop and lawn growth.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on tools and equipment used in farming and landscaping tasks.
- Ensure tools and machinery are cleaned and stored properly after use.
