Job Description
Overview:
This position provides an opportunity for professional growth and development. You will gain knowledge and experience through an on-the-job training program that includes both sales and operations. You will learn to safely apply products to a wide range of crops and sites while operating and maintaining Company equipment. This includes building and maintaining customer relationships through expert application of Crop Protection and fertilizer products and providing feedback to customers and/or location manager regarding weeds, insects or fertility problems that are noted during application.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
Apply crop protection and fertilizer products
Understand and safely operate the application equipment assigned
Utilize the information supplied and the technology in the application equipment to ensure that the right products, at the right rates, are applied and billed to the right fields and customers
Identify basic weed and fertility issues in the fields applied, and report to the location manager or customer
Assist in the mixing, loading, and unloading of Crop Protection and fertilizer products
Consistently follow all laws, regulations, and safety rules in handling and applying products and storing chemicals
Help with the maintenance of plant and equipment
Maintain positive communication with the supervisor and grower as needed
Assist with scouting, product transportation and various services for producers
Properly complete necessary paperwork and records
Engage in safety awareness, and comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
Train for possible leadership or sales position in the future
Promote teamwork and a positive image of the cooperative, while being responsive to the needs of our farmer owners
Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated attitude which reflects pride in job, and a spirit of cooperation with co-workers
Ability to obtain a minimum of a Class B CDL with hazardous materials endorsement and be able to drive various types of application equipment
Ability to obtain Pesticide Applicators license
Be familiar with crop chemicals, farming practices, crop characteristics, and weed identifications
Have an understanding of safe working conditions and operations of vehicles
Be willing and able to work well with others, to take and give constructive criticism, and to lend a helping hand
Must continue to grow and learn through meetings, training, industry publications, and others
Possess the willingness to adapt to changing application technologies as well as seasonal variations in workload responsibilities
Must be able to work with minimum supervision
Ability to accurately locate application site and read field maps
Excellent driving record
