We're a fast-growing U.S. accounting and advisory firm serving construction and healthcare clients. Our stack runs on QuickBooks Online, and we use AI tools daily — not as a buzzword, but as core infrastructure. We need someone to build the AI-powered automation layer that takes us from 60 clients to 500+ without linearly scaling headcount.

You'll work directly with our team to identify the most painful manual workflows, then design and ship automations that handle them end-to-end.

What You'll Build

AI Agents & Workflows — Intelligent automations that extract data from invoices and receipts, categorize transactions, draft client communications, reconcile accounts, and process unstructured financial documents. You'll call LLM APIs (Claude, OpenAI) as part of production pipelines, not just chat interfaces.

QBO Integrations — Custom integrations that read/write transactions, invoices, journal entries, chart of accounts, and reports via the QuickBooks Online API. Sync data between QBO and internal databases, dashboards, and client-facing tools.

Internal Tools & Dashboards — Lightweight web apps (built with Lovable, Cursor, Streamlit, or React) that replace the spreadsheets and email chains the team currently relies on. Client status boards, P&L dashboards, multi-entity consolidation views.

Process Automation — End-to-end workflows in Make.com or n8n: automated client onboarding, document collection, payroll data routing (BambooHR ↔ QBO), deadline tracking, and Slack notifications.

Data Pipelines — Connect accounting platforms to reporting tools, consolidate multi-entity data, and build the infrastructure that lets the firm scale.

Requirements

AI Building (must-have)

• Demonstrated experience building functional tools or automations using AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, Copilot, or similar) — show us what you've shipped
• Ability to integrate LLM APIs into production workflows (prompt design, structured output parsing, error handling, cost management)
• You reach for AI tools first, not as an afterthought — this is how you work

Accounting & QBO (must-have)

• Real accounting knowledge: debits/credits, accrual vs. cash basis, chart of accounts structure, bank reconciliation, month-end close process
• 1+ years working with QuickBooks Online in a professional context (bookkeeping, accounting team, or building integrations against real client data)
• Familiarity with multi-entity structures, S-corps, and partnership accounting is a strong plus

Technical Foundation (must-have)

• Strong API skills: OAuth flows, REST, JSON, webhooks, error handling — you can read API docs and ship an integration independently
• Working proficiency in Python or JavaScript
• Experience with at least one automation platform (Make.com, n8n, or Zapier) beyond simple triggers

Strong Plus

• Experience with Quickbooks Online Developer Intuit Portal
• Familiarity with pass-through entity tax workflows (K-1s, partnership/S-corp returns)
• Background building internal tools with Lovable, Retool, or Streamlit
• Experience with Bill.com, Slack API, or Google Workspace integrations
