Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Operations Management (AI-Enabled)
Role Summary
The Operations Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for providing deep functional expertise to design, optimize, and scale operational processes across the organization. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and cross-functional teams, leveraging data analytics, AI-enabled tools, and industry best practices to drive operational excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary SME for operations management frameworks, policies, and best practices
- Design, standardize, and optimize end-to-end operational processes to improve efficiency and scalability
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen
- Partner with business, technology, and analytics teams to implement AI-driven operational solutions
- Define, monitor, and analyze operational KPIs, SLAs, and performance dashboards
- Identify operational risks, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies; recommend data-driven solutions
- Support demand forecasting, capacity planning, workflow automation, and resource optimization
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, and governance standards
- Provide expert guidance during audits, compliance reviews, and process assessments
- Mentor operations teams and support change management initiatives
AI & Data Enablement
- Leverage AI and advanced analytics to predict operational trends and performance outcomes
- Support automation of repetitive operational tasks and reporting
- Translate AI insights into actionable operational strategies
- Collaborate with data science and IT teams to align AI tools with operational goals
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in operations management or process improvement roles
- Proven experience as a subject matter expert or lead contributor in operations
- Strong knowledge of operational KPIs, process mapping, and performance management
- Hands-on experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent)
- Experience working with AI-driven tools, analytics platforms, or automation technologies
- Industry experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, healthcare, SaaS, or financial services
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
