Description and Requirements

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated AI Specialist Intern to support critical AI initiatives that will directly contribute to Sphere AI’s future enhancements. This internship focuses on data exploration, machine learning development, and generative AI solution design, offering hands‑on experience across multiple AI problem areas.

The intern will support three key use cases:

  • Data exploration, analysis, and machine learning development, including some generative AI work
  • Generative AI solution exploration, focusing on use‑case design and feasibility
  • Prompt engineering and GenAI experimentation, refining how AI models are instructed and applied

All three outcomes are strategically important and will directly influence the evolution of Sphere AI.



Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis & Machine Learning Development

  • Perform data exploration, cleaning, and analysis to uncover patterns and insights.
  • Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning models using Python‑based frameworks.
  • Apply statistical and data science techniques to support AI model development.
  • Document findings, model behavior, and experimental results.

Generative AI & Prompt Engineering

  • Explore generative AI solutions and identify opportunities to apply them to real business problems.
  • Design, test, and refine prompts to improve model accuracy, relevance, and usability.
  • Experiment with different GenAI approaches to optimize outputs and performance.
  • Compare and evaluate GenAI techniques and tools for future integration.

AI Solution Exploration & Prototyping

  • Assist in prototyping AI‑driven solutions that support Sphere AI’s roadmap.
  • Collaborate with technical team members to translate ideas into working experiments.
  • Analyze results and provide recommendations based on data and experimentation.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with team members to understand requirements and technical goals.
  • Clearly communicate progress, findings, and challenges through presentations or written updates.
  • Maintain organized project artifacts, code repositories, and documentation


Required Qualifications:

Education

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.

Technical Requirements

  • Completion of AI and/or Machine Learning–related undergraduate coursework.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and data science frameworks and tools, such as:
    • Python, Pandas
    • Scikit‑learn
    • Git
    • Linux
  • Prior hands‑on experience through coursework, side projects, or personal projects involving ML or AI.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curiosity and willingness to experiment with new AI techniques.
  • Passion for emerging technologies in AI, machine learning, and data science.

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Exposure to generative AI models or tools.
  • Experience working with datasets of varying size and complexity.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts or experimentation.
  • Interest in applied AI solutions and real‑world use cases.
