JOB TITLE: Air-Condition & Refrigeration Technician

REPORTING TO: Chief Engineer / Supervisor

THE POSITION

Under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, the position will operate, maintain and repair all aspects of the Palace’s refrigeration and Air conditioning equipment, in accordance with Boutique Group standards to achieve optimum operating efficiency at all times.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Must have All Requirement of HVAC Technician

Associate’s degree in HVAC or similar or equivalent in years’ experience required 6 years.

Authorized Locally to work as HVAC technician

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have 4-6 years’ direct hospitality experience in HVAC and boiler operation and maintenance.

Must have entry-level training on BMS building automation system and know how to utilize the control program for troubleshooting.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.

Familiarity with Palace management software and systems.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is preferred.

Local market experience is an asset.

JOB DUTIES:

Service, installation, repair, overhauling and replacing all types of refrigeration equipment such as centrifugal chillers, air cooled chillers, walk in cold rooms, freezer rooms, chillers, ice machines and other commercial/industrial refrigeration equipment.

Service, install, repair, overhaul and replace air conditioning equipment such as window units, package units, fan coil units, split units, ecology units, air curtains and VRFs.

Carries out electric arc or oxy–acetylene welding and stainless steel complying with P&P and local code law and regulation.

Carries out air conditioning and refrigeration preventive and routine maintenance comply with PM Program guidance and tools.

Ensure strictly follow up and update program requirements such checklists, daily routine data collection, logbooks, procurement processed with on time correction actions required.

Attends to repairs and maintenance of refrigeration equipment electrical control system.

Attends to all types of repairs and maintenance work in the Palace premises, including new additional/extensions.

Responds to guest maintenance request within 15 minutes of receipt.

Ensure uniform is clean and tidy before entering guestroom or public areas.

Ensure plant rooms, workshops and related areas are kept clean and tidy.

Observes prescribed safety standards and maintains safe conditions.

Ensure full responsibility for completing Repair and maintenance journey from task assignment, repair, parts ordering, receiving, quality control, installation, testing and commissioning through completion of required records and handover.

Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.

Must know how to prepare boilers for State inspection including refractory work, cleaning and installing new seals.

Must replace bearings and seals on centrifugal pumps and change bearings on fan systems, motors and pump shafts.

Need to run Boiler and Chiller plants through Metasys system and Auto-Flame (Optional).

Familiar with cooling tower operations and repair potential problems (Optional).

Fully understand principles of Refrigeration & Air Conditioning and apply in practice.

Regularly inspect compressor units and effect maintenance and repairs.

Maintain charging equipment, refrigeration test equipment and A/C tools in good condition.

Understand control principles of A/C systems and regularly test, repair and calibrate.

Verify building temperatures, adjust and record on plant log sheet.

Complete major and minor services and return job sheets to Engineering Office.

Complete personal daily job record and time book accurately.

Fully comprehend building automation system operation, alarm and functionality.

Troubleshoot & repair A/C systems when necessary.

Ensure maintenance as per manufacturer instructions.

All responsibilities as per BG P&P and Departmental P&P under guidance of Chief Engineer/DOE.

Inform Chief Engineer/DOE on problems and unusual matters.

Responsibility of Predictive maintenance planning and implementation.

Cross train in Kitchen & Laundry Equipment repair and maintenance.

Respond immediately to guest complaints.

Carry out fire brigade duties when assigned.

Attend meetings and training as required.

Stay updated on Engineering technology.

Perform duties efficiently to achieve overall objective.

RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to Supervisor / Chief Engineer / DOEs or deputies.

Cooperates with Engineering Department, Palace guests, contractors and other departments.

Contribute to revenue maximization and cost control without compromising assets and FHLS.

Contribute to store and procurement strategies ensuring smooth operation and optimum maintenance quality.
