Air Imports Coordinator

Air Imports Coordinator is responsible for planning and conduct of activities related to customs clearance of air shipments coming to GB at different locations. The person working on this position is responsible for ensuring compliance of country specific import rules and administration of custom duties, VAT management and any other applicable taxes in favour of import clients. Air Imports Coordinator is well aware of international customs procedures and industrial practices for freight forwarding and is responsible for handling active coordination with Custom Authorities, Airlines, Ground Handlers and Local Haulage companies.

Location: One Expressway, Gulberg Greens Interchange, Islamabad Highway, Islamabad

Timing: 01:30PM to 10:30PM in Winters / 12:30PM to 09:30PM in Summers

Job Description:

To receive pre-alerts from the client organizations, create bookings and monitor shipments till their arrival at ports;

To check and confirm the validation of received documents for importability acceptance as per the import country rules;

To approach and inform consignee on the shipments scheduled for arrival and taking clearance instructions accordingly besides signing of agent authorization form;

To calculate applicable customs duties, VAT and other charges for providing estimate to consignees for their approval;

To initiate and take up coordination with line departments for the immediate removal of objections, if raised any in the process for smooth customs clearance;

To self-nominate and help shipments manifest with correct details upon arrival at airline sheds and other first entry points;

To draft and keep the customs declarations ready for submission upon arrival of shipments so that maximum possible storage and demurrage charges could be avoided;

To keep arranged local haulage for delivery of customs cleared goods to the notified addresses with the least possible days in storage;

To inform consignees on the applicable haulage charge, take approvals, prepare invoices and bill clients accordingly in advance;

To receive applicable custom duties and VAT from consignees and deposit the same ahead to customs authorities;

To keep informed client and consignees on the latest updates coming on the way in clearance of shipments and win their confidence;

To update the shipment record in Cargowise One with every event as it occurs in the process of job for any shipment;

To do active follow up with clients and consignees over the phone calls and emails for securing immediate responses for taking spontaneous actions;

To stay update on the new procedures and rules introduced by customs authorities of import countries and updating country rules accordingly in the system;

Job Requirements;

Previous work experience as air imports or customs coordinator for UK, US, EU or Middle Eastern countries

Familiar with HMRC UK Procedures (Preferred)

Preference for Candidates who comes with Good Understanding and Relevant Experience in Imports Management

IT literate with good communications skills and should be good in handling data entry in ERP systems

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business management or any related discipline;

Extraordinary English fluency with strong written communication and interpersonal skills to deal with customer service;

Advanced ability to work comfortably with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
