EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position provides engineering and regulatory support that helps ensure clean air protections are met throughout Pennsylvania. Your work will focus on technical evaluation, collaborating with partners, and developing key permitting requirements. As a Air Quality Engineer, you will perform the following duties:

  • Permitting Criteria Development:
    Develop comprehensive criteria for emissions control standards and supporting documents
  • Feasibility Assessment: Analyze data to evaluate technological and economic feasibility for oil and gas industries
  • Regulation Development Support: Assist in drafting regulations and determining applicability of state and federal standards
  • Technical Consultation: Guide regional staff, consultants, and industries on technology requirements and air quality regulations
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare reports, briefings, letters, and responses for internal and external audiences
  • Participation and Coordination: Engage in meetings, hearings, and events and coordinate with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and DEP staff

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in the Rachael Carson building in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $77,164.00 (before taxes).
