Position Summary

The Catering Security Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily catering security operations to ensure full compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA), airport authority, airline customer, and National Aviation Services (NAS) security requirements. This position provides direct leadership, oversight, and operational support to Catering Security Agents while ensuring the integrity and chain of custody of all airline catering carts, transport vehicles, and associated security processes prior to aircraft delivery.

The Catering Security Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining aviation security standards, operational efficiency, and customer compliance requirements in a secure airport environment. This role is responsible for monitoring employee performance, conducting operational audits and inspections, ensuring proper seal accountability and documentation, and addressing security concerns in real time. The supervisor must maintain strict adherence to chain-of-custody procedures, security protocols, and all airline-specific security requirements while supporting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

This position serves as the primary point of contact for frontline security operations during assigned shifts and must be capable of making immediate operational decisions in fast-paced and highly regulated airport environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Leadership and Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Catering Security Agents to ensure compliance with all TSA, airport authority, airline customer, and NAS security requirements.
  • Monitor staffing levels and operational coverage to ensure all assigned flights and catering operations are properly supported.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, direction, and ongoing support to frontline employees during daily operations.
  • Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational priorities, security updates, procedural changes, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure all assigned security inspections are completed accurately, thoroughly, and within required operational timelines.
  • Serve as the escalation point for operational, security, or compliance concerns during assigned shifts.
  • Support station leadership with operational planning, staffing coordination, and service delivery initiatives.

Security Inspection and Compliance Oversight

  • Oversee the inspection process for airline catering carts to ensure all carts are free of prohibited items, unauthorized materials, or security threats.
  • Ensure systematic inspections are completed using approved inspection techniques and tools, including mirrors and flashlights.
  • Verify proper application and accountability of tamper-evident seals on all catering carts and transport vehicles.
  • Ensure all truck seals, cart seals, and chain-of-custody documentation are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with security procedures.
  • Conduct random quality assurance inspections and audits to verify compliance with security protocols and operational standards.
  • Monitor compliance with airline-specific security procedures and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all transport vehicles are properly inspected and secured prior to departure to the aircraft.
  • Investigate and report seal discrepancies, documentation issues, procedural violations, or security concerns immediately to management.

Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Review and verify completion of all required security documentation, including:
    • Dock verification paperwork
    • Truck seal verification forms
    • Alternate chain-of-custody forms
    • Security audit documentation
    • Incident and discrepancy reports
  • Maintain accurate records related to security operations, employee accountability, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of operational reports, audit findings, and corrective action documentation.
  • Maintain accountability and inventory control of all issued security seals and security equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage and safeguarding of security materials, records, and equipment.

Training and Employee Development

  • Train, coach, and mentor Catering Security Agents on proper inspection procedures, chain-of-custody requirements, seal control procedures, and operational expectations.
  • Ensure all employees maintain required training compliance and operational certifications.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and provide performance feedback to team members.
  • Reinforce company policies, safety expectations, and customer service standards consistently.
  • Support corrective action and performance management processes in partnership with station leadership and Human Resources.

Safety and Security Compliance

  • Maintain strict adherence to TSA regulations, airport authority requirements, airline customer security procedures, and NAS policies at all times.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees follow all safety procedures and operational best practices.
  • Immediately address unsafe conditions, procedural violations, or security risks.
  • Maintain situational awareness in secure airport environments and ensure operational integrity is maintained throughout all shifts.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, TSA inspections, and operational reviews as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, have reliable transportation, and be authorized to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of aviation, airport operations, security, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in secured airport environments.
  • Must secure appropriate airport authority and/or U.S. Customs security badges, if applicable.
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make operational decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to enforce strict compliance standards.
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately and maintain accountability.
  • Strong integrity, professionalism, and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior aviation catering security experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of TSA security procedures and chain-of-custody requirements preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in aviation or security operations preferred.
  • Experience working with airline customers and airport operational environments preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and inspect carts, vehicles, and operational areas.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in warehouse, ramp, and outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to work in varying weather and operational conditions.
  • Workspaces may be confined or restricted; employee must be able to work in tight spaces as operationally required.

Work Schedule

Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, mandatory overtime, and varying shifts based on operational requirements and airline schedules.
