Airline Ramp Station Training Instructor

General Purpose of the Position

The Station Training Instructor – Ramp Service is responsible for conducting initial and recurrent training for all below-wing operations at the station. Training responsibilities include ramp operations, safety, security, ACAA compliance, weight and balance, aircraft appearance, and ground service equipment (GSE) operations.

This role supports operational compliance with company, airline, and regulatory standards and is cross-utilized in all below-wing operational functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitate initial and recurrent training for all below-wing operational functions within the station.

Evaluate and oversee ramp procedures to ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and airline requirements.

Create, maintain, and manage training records in accordance with company, airline, and FAA regulations.

Conduct training on Ground Service Equipment (GSE), including all motorized ramp equipment.

Deliver training on ground operations topics, including Hazardous Materials (HazMat) recognition, security procedures, ACAA compliance, and safety programs.

Train employees on airline-specific policies, procedures, and operational standards related to ramp service.

Support the Training Department in achieving corporate and departmental goals.

Assist in improving training programs and operational performance across the station.

Support station operations training initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Provide operational assistance to the station when training classes are not in session.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with trainees, team members, and management.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Station Manager.

Minimum Requirements

Must successfully pass a ten (10) year background check.

Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States in accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.

Must be able to lift a 70-pound suitcase from the floor to a height of 18 inches.

Must be able to carry a 70-pound suitcase up to 25 feet.

Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks including bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and lifting.

Ability to stand for extended periods, up to four hours at a time.

Must possess sufficient vision, mobility, and dexterity to safely perform job duties.

Work Environment

This position operates within an airport ramp environment, both indoors and outdoors.

Regular exposure to high noise levels typical of ramp and aircraft operations.

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, rain, and snow.

Exposure to aircraft ramp operations, including winter operations and ground de-icing activities.

Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing and visibility protection, will be provided as required.

Employees must be willing to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel may be required for:

Company training events

Industry conferences

Operational support at other stations

Travel may include day trips, overnight stays, or multi-day assignments.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required

College coursework preferred

Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of ramp operations experience, or equivalent training and education

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Ramp Lead, Supervisor, or equivalent leadership role

Previous experience as a ground operations agent with the ability to teach ramp operational skills

Knowledge and Skills

Working knowledge of PC computers and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Strong understanding of airline policies, procedures, and ramp operational standards

Familiarity with ground operations training, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance
