Airport Maintenance Technician

The City of Dalton is currently accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Technician at the Dalton Municipal Airport. This is a part-time, hourly position.
The Maintenance Technician will perform tasks associated with the maintenance of the airport’s assets and perform a multitude of construction tasks. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of all aspects of construction from framing, electrical, plumbing and generalized maintenance. Responsibilities include performing daily routine maintenance inspections on airport vehicles and reporting any safety or mechanical issues to a supervisor. The technician will also perform minor vehicle maintenance as required. Additionally, the position requires responding to emergency situations after normal working hours when called in by a supervisor. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate city-owned vehicles. The position requires availability to work Saturdays (8 AM–5 PM), Sundays (1 PM–5 PM), and 1–2 flexible weekdays, totaling approximately 25 hours per week. The employee is subject to call back 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and may be required to work holidays, including religious holidays. The starting pay for this position is $18.50 per hour.

This position is also responsible for housekeeping and other duties as assigned by the Airport Manager. Applicants must be able to do heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
