The Airport Programming Section guides the planning, design, and construction of safe, efficient airport facilities in a collaborative and dynamic team environment. In this role, you will be able to develop or expand your aviation knowledge while being an advocate for airports throughout Wisconsin! Join our team as an Airport Program Engineer (Civil Engineer Transportation – Senior or Advanced)!
This position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Hill Farms State Office Building in Madison, WI at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

This position develops and manages the state airport improvement program and the federal Airport Capital Improvement Program. This position also provides consultation and advice to Wisconsin county and municipal governments, planning authorities, industry representatives, other aviation organizations and WisDOT management on airport programming and development funding. Responsibilities include analyzing and preparing responses to the reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration and its airport development laws, regulations, programs and procedures as well as potential changes to state laws and programs relating to airport funding to derive the maximum benefit to the state’s system of airports and its aviation industry.

The Senior level position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $83,304 - $99,403 depending upon qualifications and experience.
The Advanced level position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $92,768 - $112,237 depending on qualifications and experience.
WisDOT also offers excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
