Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alcohol and Drug Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling, IOP, mental health support, and clinical assessments to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Your expertise will help clients navigate their recovery journey through evidence-based therapies, crisis intervention, and personalized case management. Duties
- Conduct thorough intake assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and patient care planning for individuals seeking addiction treatment.
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis techniques.
- Develop and implement treatment plans that incorporate addiction medicine principles, mental health counseling, and case management strategies.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management to ensure client safety during acute episodes or emergencies.
- Coordinate with families and support systems through child & family counseling to foster a supportive environment for recovery.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, medical records, and compliance with HIPAA regulations while utilizing ICD-9, ICD-10 coding for diagnostic purposes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conduct patient assessments, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Engage in research activities related to behavioral health interventions and contribute to data collection efforts for continuous quality improvement.
Experience
- Proven experience in addiction counseling, clinical counseling, or behavioral health settings with a focus on substance use disorders.
- Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral management, and social work principles.
- Demonstrated proficiency in crisis intervention, crisis management, and trauma-informed care including PTSD care.
- Experience working in hospital environments or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical documentation standards, and ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Familiarity with patient assessment tools, diagnostic evaluation procedures, and intake processes for addiction medicine programs.
- Ability to apply research findings to clinical practice while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
