Engineer II – AM Operations

POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed- and rotary-wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.
Role Summary
Execute day-to-day operations of metal AM machines and supporting labs. Run builds safely and efficiently, complete QA/calibration tasks, keep utilities and consumables under control, and maintain traceability—supporting facility fit-out, vendor interactions, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Facility fit-out & utilities: Prepare line-out, hook-ups and SAT checklists; verify power/gas/water/extraction readiness; update layout drawings and route cards.

Equipment & consumables: Set up builds, manage powders/gases/filters/optics covers, raise testing work orders, track spares and consumables.

Operational excellence: Run LPBF/EBM/DED builds per SOP; capture e-logs; first-line troubleshooting; contribute to OEE/uptime dashboards.

QA / Calibration: Perform daily/weekly checks on facilities to ensure maximum equipment utilization potential.

Vendor & stakeholder support: Host service engineers, complete FAT/SAT punch-lists, liaise with Procurement/Finance on parts and contracts.

People & EHS: Coach technicians on SOPs/5S; enforce powder/gas/radiation safety and permit-to-work procedures. Liaise with the Healthy and Safety team where needed.
Mandatory Qualifications

BEng/BSc in Mechanical/Industrial/Materials/Electrical or equivalent.

3–5 years Industry in additive manufacturing; hands-on with metal AM (preferably LPBF)

10 -15 Years work Experience

Working knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 and EHS in labs.

Basic CAD proficiency.
Desired Skills
-
Exposure to EBM or DED/WAAM, heat-treat/HIP basics.

Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt, TPM/OEE familiarity; 5S implementation.

Metrology tools (Alicona/optical scan), in-situ monitoring awareness.

Basic scripting (Excel/Python) for log parsing and simple dashboards.

Experience hosting FAT/SAT and closing punch-lists.
