Key job responsibilities
The Process Engineer Intern/Co-op will be responsible for:
- Manufacturing process optimization projects involving data collection, cycle time studies, root-cause / problem-solving initiatives, and creation of training modules
- Create business process models using best practice techniques, including current and future state solution design documents using requirements gathered
- Gather, analyze and document functional / technical requirements for new projects, enhancements to existing solutions and production issues reported by end users
- Research production system issues, resolve user problems and escalate when necessary (Manufacturing Engineering Support)
- Conduct periodic project updates and review sessions with cross-functional team members
- Support supplier improvement initiatives
- Document Manufacturing / Tech OPs-specific process and project activities that support our content and knowledge management initiatives
- Participate in Lean Initiatives including but not limited to 5S performance auditing, Kaizen Event sessions
About the team
The Process Engineering Team is responsible for continuous improvement in the manufacturing areas focusing on safety, delivery, quality and cost. The team also works with other internal and external Amazon engineering departments helping develop manufacturing solutions for new products.
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Currently working towards Bachelor’s or Masters Degree with a graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Masters, or PhD program that is physically located in the United States and must have at least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op
- Are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h / week) co-op during the 6-month co-op duration
- Knowledge of different process innovation methodologies and their practical application
- Understanding of metrics, process capabilities, LEAN and IE techniques
- Proficient with AutoCAD / 2D layouts
- Enthusiasm, idealism, creativity and dedication to getting results
- Ability to work collaboratively and without direct reporting authority; must be a team player
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with both technical and business staff
- Excellent written, speaking and interpersonal skills
- Experience with creating process models

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $41.78/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $88.94/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
