Overview:
Specialty pharmacy technicians are responsible for the regulatory and operational aspects of their area of practice under the direction of the pharmacist. Current ambulatory pharmacy areas of practice include: controlled substances, meds to beds, pain management clinic, and specialty pharmacy. The specialty pharmacy technician spends at least 75% of their time in their area of practice. They are also responsible for assisting in the training of new personnel in their practice area. They maintain medication systems in their area of practice (as appropriate) and maintain an optimal environment for the preparation and storage of pharmaceuticals.
Qualifications:Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Education:
Graduate of accredited Pharmacy Technician training program
Required Licensure/Certifications:
Registered Pharmacy Technician in Florida or Registered Pharmacy Intern in Florida
Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
Certified Pharmacy Technician
Required Experience:
1-2 years of technician experience
Preferred Experience:
1 year of technician experience in area of specialty

3. Good organization and communication skills
4. Ability to perform detailed tasks with accuracy
