The AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) System Operator is responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining AMI systems to ensure accurate and reliable collection of smart meter data. The role supports daily utility operations by monitoring system performance, resolving communication issues, managing meter data, and coordinating with field teams to maintain system reliability and efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor the performance and availability of AMI systems, smart meters, and communication networks.
- Ensure successful collection, validation, and processing of meter data.
- Investigate and resolve meter communication failures, outages, and data discrepancies.
- Monitor system alarms and events and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform routine system checks and support maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with field technicians to troubleshoot and resolve meter-related issues.
- Generate operational reports and analyze system performance metrics.
- Execute remote meter operations, including meter reads, connect/disconnect services, and firmware updates.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, maintenance activities, and system performance.
- Support testing, commissioning, and integration of new AMI devices and system enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with operational procedures, data security, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in AMI system monitoring, MDM/HES operations, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of AMI architecture, smart meters, and communication technologies.
- Experience with Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS) and AMI Head-End Systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and system monitoring applications.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
