  • Start up, shut down, and isolate plant equipment as required for operations and maintenance.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on ammonia refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in compressors, motors, pumps, control panels, valves, sensors, electrical circuits, thermostats, and other related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to cooling inefficiency, abnormal pressure, ammonia leakage, compressor trips, motor overload, and control system faults.
  • Replace defective components and ensure proper testing before returning equipment to service.
  • Maintain chilled water systems, ventilation systems, and air-conditioning equipment where applicable.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all ammonia handling, refrigeration safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work, and emergency response procedures.
  • Detect and respond appropriately to ammonia leaks, alarms, and emergency shutdown situations.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards, local regulations, and best industry practices for ammonia refrigeration plants.
  • Support periodic safety audits, risk assessments, inspections, and statutory compliance activities.
  • Maintain proper use of PPE, gas detection devices, and emergency response tools.

Inspection & Documentation

  • Prepare maintenance checklists, service reports, spare parts requirements, and technical logs.
  • Assist in planning shutdown maintenance and major overhauls of refrigeration/HVAC systems.
  • Report recurring technical issues and recommend improvements for system reliability and energy efficiency.

Team Coordination

  • Coordinate with production, warehouse, facility, and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with supervisors and contractors during installation, repairs, and project work.
  • Support junior technicians and helpers with technical guidance and on-the-job training.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Hands-on experience with industrial refrigeration compressors, condensers, evaporators, control valves, pumps, and safety systems.
  • Good knowledge of ammonia plant safety standards, leak detection, emergency procedures, and refrigeration best practices.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Familiarity with HVAC controls, PLC-based systems, and refrigeration instrumentation is an advantage.
  • Experience in cold storage, food processing, dairy, FMCG, meat processing, logistics, or industrial plant environments preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to work in plant environments, confined areas, and varying temperature conditions.
