Analyst, Compensation

Position Description





Position Overview:
Performs various administrative, analytical, and reporting functions in support of departmental programs, projects, and services. Gathers, consolidates, processes, tracks, and analyzes data and information using automated systems. Utilizes data findings to provide recommendations regarding departmental policies, procedures, and services. Handles various department related questions and issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Researches, compiles and analyzes benchmark salary survey data from internal and external sources to determine market trends, appropriate job titles, classifications and competitive salary ranges utilizing relevant market data, and geographic and industry specific variables.
  • Plays a key role in county-wide compensation projects and initiatives including a compensation framework to support job architecture implementation, career progression creation and pay equity to provide job clarity and pay transparency.
  • Consolidates and prepares complex compensation data for various compensation related needs (e.g., creating, conducting, and participating in salary surveys from other counties and public entities throughout the United States).
  • Serves as knowledgeable point of contact to provide consultation, guidance and expertise to business units on matters relative to compensation and position control management to ensure programs, policies and practices are current, effective and meet business goals.
  • Reviews complex compensation data and collaborates with business units on corrective actions to ensure position salaries and budgets are within the appropriate salary ranges and assigned budget amounts.
  • Communicates with various individuals and entities as needed for benchmarking, position control management, and other compensation related purposes which includes collaborating with IT on data uploads, testing and ongoing changes to compensation related technology solutions (PeopleSoft, ERI, Payfactors).
  • Updates compensation data/records in PeopleSoft to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Utilizes data analysis techniques to monitor and evaluate compensation data related to strategic compensation projects and department/organization goals.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field from an accredited college or university and
  • One (1) year of directly related experience.
OR
  • Associates degree in a directly related field from an accredited college or university and
  • Three (3) years of directly related work experience.
OR
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution and
  • Five (5) years of directly related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to make mathematical and statistical calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse environment.
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related softwares.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of Compensation and position control management.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-time
  • Monday - Friday | 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
    • Schedules may vary based on the needs of the department and must be approved.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
  • This is a largely sedentary role that may require sitting for long periods of time.
Salary:
  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 Pay Periods
    • Plus, benefits
Reporting Relationships:
  • Reports To Position: Manager, Compensation and Position Control
  • Supervises Positions: N/A
