Analyst ESG Reporting

Job Description

The role of Analyst- ESG Reporting supports Bapco Energies’ sustainability and ESG reporting activities by collecting, analyzing, and validating environmental, social, and governance data. The role is designed for a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical capabilities and a passion for sustainability, responsible investing, and corporate responsibility. A core focus is on ensuring high-quality ESG data and reports that align with the company’s Sustainability & ESG Strategy and meet industry standards, thereby helping communicate Bapco Energies’ performance and initiatives to stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

Reporting & communication:

  • Coordinate and streamline the company’s internal and external ESG reporting processes. This includes gathering data across business units.
  • Maintaining and updating ESG dashboards and preparing clear presentations of ESG performance. Ensure all reporting aligns with recognized industry standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and other frameworks.
  • Play a supporting role in drafting and editing the Annual Group ESG Report and other sustainability disclosures, ensuring content is comprehensive, accurate, and effectively communicates our ESG performance and initiatives.
  • Assist in developing visuals and narratives for presentations to senior executives and external stakeholders, highlighting key ESG achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Maintains a professional communication style that upholds Bapco Energies’ reputation for transparency and commitment to sustainability.

Monitoring & Research

  • Continuously research the latest ESG trends, benchmarks, regulatory updates, and best practices.
  • Monitor changes in ESG reporting standards (e.g., new guidelines from SASB, TCFD, or emerging regulations like IFRS S1/S2 on sustainability disclosure) and identify implications for Bapco Energies.
  • Track the company’s performance in external ESG ratings and rankings, and support initiatives to improve these scores by pinpointing gaps and suggesting enhancements.
  • Provide summarized insights from benchmarking research, helping the company stay ahead of industry developments and stakeholder expectations

ESG Policies & Strategy Implementation

  • Assist in projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the company’s sustainability performance and achieving strategic ESG goals, as outlined in the Sustainability & ESG Strategy. This might involve contributing to action plans for improving specific ESG metrics (for example, a plan to boost energy efficiency or community engagement scores) or help roll out new ESG policies and frameworks across the organization.
  • Support cross-functional working groups by providing data, coordinating meetings, and tracking progress on ESG initiatives. Ensure that improvement projects remain aligned with both the company’s internal targets and industry’s best practices or commitments.

Governance & Compliance

  • Support the development and periodic update of ESG-related policies, guidelines, and procedures to align with Bapco Energies’ strategic objectives and governance standards.
  • Help ensure compliance with all relevant ESG reporting standards and regulations, as well as any ESG requirements tied to financial commitments (such as sustainability-linked loans or bonds). This involves keeping documentation up-to-date and ready for audits or reviews and verifying that the company’s ESG practices promote transparency and accountability.
  • assist in benchmarking the company’s practices against any new regulations or frameworks (e.g., national ESG disclosure mandates or exchange listing requirements) and closing any gaps.

Risk Management

  • Identify and monitor ESG-related risks, including climate-related risks, that could impact the company’s operations or reputation.
  • Work with senior team members to assess these risks and develop recommendations to mitigate potential impacts.
  • Regularly review and report on key ESG risk indicators and highlight trends or emerging issues.
  • Support the integration of ESG risks into the enterprise risk management process by providing data and analysis that inform decision-making.

ESG In Investments

  • Collaborate with the Investments department to integrate ESG considerations into investment decisions and ensure they align with the company’s sustainability objectives.
  • Assist in gathering and analyzing ESG information for potential investments or financing opportunities (e.g., due diligence data for sustainability-linked financing instruments).
  • Help track commitments under any sustainability-linked loans or bonds, ensuring the company meets its ESG performance targets tied to those financial instruments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Finance, Business, or a related field; Master’s or ESG certification (e.g., CFA, GRI) is desired
  • Minimum of 5 years experience or internship in ESG, sustainability, or related areas; energy sector exposure is an advantage.
  • Solid grasp of ESG principles and reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD), with adaptability to evolving standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with ESG data platforms and basic Power BI skills is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to craft clear reports and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills; comfortable presenting in meetings.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and attention to detail; capable of managing multiple priorities and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and eager to learn in a fast-evolving ESG landscape.
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to Bapco Energies’ sustainability vision.
