Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Training Analyst with experience managing a learning management system, working with vendors, and knowledge of adult learning techniques and training design.

Under the general direction of the Training Manager, Supervisor 1, the Training Analyst (Analyst II) serves as a lead analyst in processing training expenditure requests and invoices in order to facilitate the department's training objectives. The Training Analyst will also serve as a back-up to other analysts within the Departmental Training Unit to schedule departmental staff for trainings, working with vendors and maintaining the Learning Management System (LMS) database.

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 and related Pay Differential 386. PLP 2025 requires employees to receive a reduction in pay in exchange for monthly hours of PLP 2025 leave credits. The incumbent must be able to work in a high-rise building
The incumbent may telework in accordance with CDI's Telework Policy. Teleworking employees may be required to report to their headquarters office location on designated telework days. Travel expenses are not reimbursed; however other authorized transit subsidies do exist for those who qualify.

Statement of Qualifications

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be included. The SOQ shall be typed in 12-point Arial font, no more than one (1) page in length, and address the following question(s):

1. This role will involve balancing administrative responsibilities and developing electronic trainings for the department. Describe a time when you had to manage multiple competing priorities while also learning new skill sets and systems. Explain how you prioritized what you were learning without letting other tasks go undone. What planning or organization tools did you use? What was the end result?
