Job Description: Analyst – Procurement (Capex)

Position Details:
  • Job Title: Analyst – Procurement (Capex)
  • Experience: 3–5 Years
  • Qualification:
    • Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Material management qualifications are an added advantage.
  • Function: Indirect-Capex Procurement
  • Location: Pune

Key Responsibilities:
  • Capex Procurement Management:
  • Execute procurement activities for plant machinery, fabrication, contract management, civil work, insulation, and bought outs required for Capex projects in a multi-plant environment.
  • Ensure alignment with organizational goals, focusing on cost savings, timely delivery, and quality standards.
  • Apply the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concept to evaluate lifecycle costs and drive value in procurement decisions.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Work closely with Category Lead to deliver on KPIs.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including plant operations, engineering, construction, finance, and project management teams, to understand and meet project-specific requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships across multiple plants and departments to ensure smooth execution of procurement activities in a dynamic, multi-plant environment.
  • Negotiation Excellence:
  • Lead high-value negotiations with suppliers and contractors to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service levels.
  • Leverage market intelligence and cost analysis to meet savings targets and drive procurement efficiencies.
  • Vendor Development & Management:
  • Identify, develop, and onboard reliable vendors for Capex procurement categories, including plant machinery, fabrication, civil works, and insulation.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery standards.
  • Foster long-term partnerships with local and alternative vendors to ensure a diverse and competitive supplier base.
  • Sourcing Project Management & Reverse Auctions:
  • Manage sourcing projects using advanced procurement platforms.
  • Knowledge of e-sourcing tools like Ivalua or SAP Ariba is an added advantage.
  • Conduct reverse auctions and implement innovative sourcing strategies to achieve cost optimization and procurement transparency.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal, statutory, and internal governance policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records to support audits, internal reviews, and procurement transparency.
  • Order Management & Delivery:
  • Finalize offers, release purchase orders, and manage end-to-end procurement processes to ensure timely delivery of Capex items.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and resolve any supply chain issues to meet project deadlines.
  • Communication & Reporting:
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills to manage stakeholders effectively, resolve conflicts, and articulate procurement strategies to senior management.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports, including cost-saving achievements, vendor performance, and project progress, to relevant stakeholders.
  • Knowledge & Data Management:
  • Build and maintain a data repository of market intelligence, supplier capabilities, and emerging trends in Capex procurement.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine procurement strategies and optimize supplier performance.

Technical Skills Requirements:
  • Mandatory:
    • Proficiency in SAP for procurement and inventory management.
    • Strong understanding of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concept.
  • Preferred (Added Advantage):
    • Knowledge of e-sourcing platforms like Ivalua or SAP Ariba.
    • Experience in managing sourcing projects and conducting reverse auctions.
    • Proven expertise in handling Capex procurement for plant machinery, fabrication, civil works, and bought-outs.

  • Multi-Plant Coordination: Ability to manage procurement activities across a multi-plant environment while meeting project-specific timelines and requirements.
  • Sourcing & E-Procurement: Familiarity with e-sourcing tools like Ivalua or SAP Ariba for sourcing projects and reverse auctions is an added advantage.
  • Compliance & Governance: In-depth understanding of procurement best practices, compliance requirements, and audit processes.
